Title

The Grand Old Game of Base Ball

Description

"Dedicated to the ball players of the United States."

V1
There’s a game y ou’ve all heard tell of,
It’s a game they all speak well of—
There’s nothing like it, all the people say
See the crowds that are attending.
While the pennant war is pending,
Excitement on the bleachers ev’ry day.
With the fans all in their places,
Expectation in their faces,
And crazy till the final run is in
All are strong for their home nine, cheering all along the line
They root and hoot to help the home team win.
V2
Don’t you hear the gong, it’s ringing,
Now it’s one to one, first inning,
Two runs soon put the visitors ahead
Then the home fans gets excited,
And the others are delighted,
It looks as if the home nine’s hopes have fled.
In the sixth and seventh tying,
In the eighth some rooters crying,
The ninth the bleachers only weep and groan
Then with men on second and third, a rousing roar is heard
When the batter knock a hit that brings them home.
Chorus
Gee, but there’s nothing like that grand old game,
The grand old game of baseball
All though the nation it has won its fame,
The greatest game of all
Gee, but it’s jolly just to be a fan,
You always find him ready at the call
Come with me, You’ll agree that it’s great to see,
The grand old game of base ball
